The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum will open A Beauty That Endures: Native Painting, Ceremony, and Resilience in the 20th Century on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, bringing together more than 50 paintings that examine the development of Indigenous painting as an important movement in 20th-century American art.

Curated by Tony Abeyta (Diné/Navajo), the exhibition features works from the renowned collection of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma.

The exhibition focuses on the first half of the 20th century, a period in which Native artists developed new forms of visual expression while responding to significant political, cultural and social changes.
