RYAN! Elizabeth Feddersen specializes in creating compelling site-specific installations and public artworks which invite people to consider their relationships to the environment, technology, society and culture. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Cornish College of the Arts in 2009, and is now based in Tacoma, Washington. Feddersen grew up in Wenatchee, as a part of a creative family with multiple cultural perspectives. She is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, from the Okanogan and Arrow Lakes bands, and of mixed European descent. Utilizing metaphor, historical research, traditional Plateau storytelling, and pop culture influences, paired with printmaking, sculpture, performance, and digital tools, Feddersen creates visual allegories that provide the public with opportunities for exploration, introspection and epiphany. She investigates creative strategies to activate engagement through interactive materials, crowd sourced content, social practice, fun and humor. These approaches enable her work to start conversations about a broad spectrum of subjects and promote community learning. Feddersen recently completed public artworks Inhabitance for the Portland International Airport, Schema for CitizenM Pioneer Square, and Antecedents for the University of Washington. She has created large-scale site-specific pieces and interactive installations throughout North America, working with Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, 4culture, Regional Arts and Culture Counsel, ArtsWa, the Museum of Art & History Santa Cruz, Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, City of Tacoma, Alternator Centre, Missoula Art Museum, University of Washington, Wellin Museum, the College of New Jersey, Northeastern University, and curated exhibitions for the New Burke Museum, Museum of Northwest Art, and Center for Contemporary Native Art at the Portland Art Museum.
